I remember back in the late 80s color and glossy fliers were way too expensive for
most promoters at the time so folks would create fliers by hand or early pc software,
sizing them up on a sheet of paper and running to a copier. Hey, it worked and you
were only limited by your own creativity.
Working for and with hit promoters Charles Jackson & James Saunders, we had
some great times at the legendary South Oxford Club in Brooklyn and James and I
launched the Octagon in 1995.
These were the times. Huge parties at Octagon, Twilo, Roxy, Speeed and
collaboration parties in Houston, Washington, DC and Atlanta along with some guest
spots at the legendary Sound Factory Bar, Warehouse and abroad.

But beyond that, we've were blessed with some darn good and talented graphic
designers that helped us put our stamp on the market.
Our core crowd's music tastes and habits started changing big time so it was time to
start branching out into new venues and reaching out to new audiences, the most
notable of them, the Destiny parties and Rhythm at 667.

Once again, a new influx of graphic artists took our flier designs to new heights and
levels which was an essential part of the promotion.
This era saw the launch of Men Are From Mars and also KissMyBlackAss (check the
flier with the doll). Great flier designs by even more new graphic artists but Nick was
definitely holding it down too.

Wow. This was mad fun going through all the years of fliers and memories and there
are still quite a few to come. Really some great and crazy times and I can honestly
say if I never do another party again (doubtful), I wouldn't mind at all.
